In the late 1970's David began painting in College. Finding the Art and publications of Wassily Kandinsky, his true inspiration was found. Over the years David became a Painting contractor and did a lot of Murals and Faux Finishes in Los Angeles. All the while he continued to make his Art. He and his wife yearned for the country life and now live in Oregon making their Art at Dragons Fly Studio.
David sees his art as his own language and his language communicates uniquely in that we all see things from our own experiences in life, one may see a red circle as an angry mark ,another may say it’s an apple, or perhaps it’s a warm spirit to someone else. It is fascinating how the human mind associates ideas to symbols, and this curiosity is what keeps David wanting to make more.
His Art has been published in magazines and books. Most recently published in Important World Artist book and in Blink. David shows his work in various Galleries in New York, Cincinnati, Miami, Los Angeles, and coming soon to Oregon.
Abstract Symbolism, is an apt description of David’s style. Just as words are composed of letters (symbols) his paintings are composed of colored forms (symbols) and these communicate ideas or feelings quite different from sentences. As the critics will forever interpret what the artist is really trying to say it will always be left to each individual to know.
